The Widower
The widower, what can I say.
An incredible film, a brilliant comedy blurred a bit by everything that came out in Italy in those years but with an Alberto Sordi, a Franca Valeri, a Livio Lorenzon and directing and writing a Dino Risi that you do not know why it is not joined to the likes of Vittorio De Sica, amazes you and keeps you glued to the screen.
An hour and a half (which seemed like half an hour) that amuses you but that leaves you with a bitter taste in your mouth, alongside the wealth of Italy’s economic boom to poverty, to the plebs, with whom you tend to empathize, and then you realize how in reality Alberto Nardi is an annoying parasite of society.
The rhythm never drops and you are always eager to see what is going to happen for all 90 min; a black-humor comedy that I think is unmissable and that certainly does not look bad alongside the usual De Sica, Monicelli, Rossellini, etc...
