Memento
"Can't Remember to Forget You"
From the start of my cinephile journey this has been one of my all time favorite films, and even on every rewatch after rewatch it still holds up in every aspect. How we deal with grief, how we deal with the outside world, how our own memories can reshape reality in so many ways we don't even notice or even forget to notice. Lenny is not a good guy, but in my eyes he's not a bad guy either, he was taken advantage of because of his condition and not just by others he was also taking advantage of himself, creating fake realities and puzzles to find a purpose in his life. I sometimes relate to him because of my ADHD making me forget things, and how I create systems and repetitions to remind myself and keep myself productive, and Memento makes me ask the question: am I creating false realities? or am I doing the right thing?
