im gonna be giving a lot of shitty early 2000s romcoms 5 star ratings and y'all are just going to have to deal with it

watched twice, once with my friends & once with my family. my dad absolutely loved it. you’d never know it by looking at him, but he’s such a music guy. i remember when we first moved to sudan, he used to have piles of cassette tapes in the center console of his car. michael jackson, sharhabil, bob marley, the list goes on. i must’ve been around 7 when he first showed me the thriller music video. he thought it was hilarious that it scared the shit out of me. but his favorite MJ song/music video is remember the time. kinda on the nose now that i think about it, a guy with egyptian roots falling for a somali woman. you could make the argument that the movie was sanitized, or you could just enjoy it for what it is. i choose the latter. anything that makes my stoic dad smile and tap his feet is outstanding in my books.

tried to be 30 movies in 1, could’ve been an hour shorter if they focused on one story. the acting was over the top at times, but that might also be a script issue. every minute tried to elicit a major emotional response, it felt almost relentless. it resulted in some unintentionally funny moments though, which i always appreciate. great production quality, a good omen for egyptian cinema in general i hope ahmed ezz fine asf #needdat
