Saving Private Ryan
One thing that I praise most about this film is the camera work, specifically during the action scenes. Spielberg makes it seem like you're there present in the moment all down to the fact that the camera acts as if a player in a first person shooter. It runs and expresses like a soldier adding to the films overall gripppingness.
The dialogue to isn't robotic or fake and the soldiers manage to find ways to joke even in the most serious of missions. They all have their own unique personalities and the fear expressed by each and every one of them as they're fighting in these battles contradict the romanticism of war seen in many films like this.
