Sunset Boulevard
Billy Wilders Sunset Boulevard is a Hollywood nightmare. Film writers have said that this film is the "definitive Hollywood horror movie". And I think that might be the perfect description. It does so much and provides so much commentary on the Hollywood machine. Pointing out the mistreatment of writers, celebrity worship, greed, legacy and more. It is kind of wild to watch a film released in 1950 that is a cautionary tale, and yet it is so relevant to our current Hollywood today. This is a must see, and kind of essential to the history of cinema. Easily one of the most important movies we can watch about making movies, Hollywood and the vanity of life.
