rewatching this movie after a longggg while and wowww i’m reminded again why it’s one of my favourite films ever. there’s something almost unreal about *The Young Girls of Rochefort*, it’s almost like stepping into a dream that somehow feels more vivid than real life. every frame feels intentional, like a painting that just happens to be alive. this movie brings me such immense joy. the musical aspect, the vivid colours, and the memorable characters, the subplot and the intimate relationship between the characters is what make the movie soooo perfect for me the performances are absolutely magnetic, especially the two sisters, who feel so natural yet almost mythical at the same time. their chemistry carries the film in a way that makes you believe in coincidence, fate, and all those romantic ideas that usually feel unrealistic but here, they just work. this film will always be so personal to me. it lingers and leaves you with this strange, beautiful optimism. i’m a very happy customer i love u Jacques Demy
