THE WINNERRRRR TAKES IT ALLLLLLLLLL!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

to love is to look; to love is to turn around i am so happy i finally had the chance to see this in theaters. the experience was otherworldly. i found myself reciting almost every line from memory and noticing details i hadn't caught in my previous viewings—like how often marianne turns to steal a glance at héloïse, mirroring the myth of orpheus and eurydice, and how the myth echoes from their first meeting to their last. i also noticed how, apart from marianne's art, sophie's embroidery captures the ephemeral. towards the end of the film, the flowers she was embroidering have wilted, yet she has preserved their image and immortalized their memory—as marianne did, in painting héloïse and in drawing herself on the 28th page of héloïse's book. i think i resonated more with héloïse's reaction to vivaldi this time around. i understand it better now. hearing it play so loudly in the cinema didn't feel like i was just a witness to her remembering—i was experiencing a remembering of my own. their love affair rang in my ears, and it was deafening, almost suffocating. and the fact that marianne was across from her, watching her too... i felt like i got shot there were only two of us at the screening. afterwards, i quietly watched the sunset by the seaside, went home, and slept like a baby. life can be so beautiful...
