Prisoners
My brain is a little bit blown away after this to be honest. The story kept me on the edge of my seat basically from the start and the last hour is just incredible. The film makes you suspect multiple characters and the real kidnapper was a slight surprise. The way this movie creates suspense is so great and it is so dark and emotional. The acting in this is incredible from so many characters. Hugh Jackman plays this father that has little patience fort the police and takes matters into his own hands. He is a really interesting character as he goes from a good, religious father to a man willing to do some fucked up things to find his daughter. Jake Gyllenhaal is also so amazing and possibly my favourite. He has this weird vibe where he doesn't simply come across as your classic good cop and instead is a little mysterious. The scene when he destroys his desk before linking the maze to the photo is so good. It wasn't just the protagonists that made this film though. Paul Dano's character, Alex, spends most the film being accused of kidnapping, then tortured and part of me was sure he did do it but really his is also a victim of this cruel string of crimes. In fact he has gone through a life of misery to then be accused of it himself. Amazing! The other acting performance I loved was David Dastmalchian's as Bob. He's the other main suspect and I was even more sure it was him than Alex. Bobs interesting because he does all these suspicious things, is arrested and you think he's leading us somewhere then its stopped... I though Dastmalchian's acting was amazing top create this deeply unwell man who similar to Alex is a victim himself but deals with it in quite a different way. This movie is just so unbelievably entertaining and my eyes were fucking stuck to the screen.
