The Matrix
This has got to be up there for one of my favourite sci-fi/dystopia film. The pace and energy of this mixed with a broken earth and computer program that humans are stuck in is fucking sick. One of my favourite things about this film is the score an soundtrack. The mix between a dark, eerie orchestral score and a soundtrack of electronic, nu-metal and industrial rock creates such a moody, gritty atmosphere. Hearing Wake Up by RATM for the credits is awesome. Keanu Reeves is brilliant as Neo and I love Lawrence Fishburne's performance. I think my favourite performance though was Hugo Weaving. His cold acting and calculating voice was amazing to watch. The whole concept of the Matrix is so interesting as well as the idea of AI taking over. Maybe we should be thinking of this more! There are so many great scenes in this from the pill scene to Neo and Trinity fighting the police to Neo dodging the bullets or finally becoming the one. Definitely one of the best dystopia's out there.
