Martyrs

An interesting watching experience. Throughout most of the film I had difficulty really understanding the plot- which I like because I like surreal plots that don’t make sense straight away. Though I still have questions about the plot after finishing the film, more and more of it became clearer near the end. I think purely as a horror film, Martyrs is a banger. If we look into the deeper meaning of it, ehh I can’t take it too seriously, especially near the end with the whole theme of martyrdom and death. I think during most of the film the make-up/special effects were phenomenal, honestly the best I had ever seen… until the end when Anna got skinned alive… it was so unrealistic that I couldn’t take it seriously. As a whole, even though there were some parts of the film, especially near the beginning, that I found boring to sit through, most of it had me captivated and confused. I liked it. Would recommend.
