The Fall
"There's no happy ending with me"
An incredibly clever and thoughtful film. An emotionally devastating version of The Princess bride. Everything I'm writing here is a just synopsis of my actual thoughts, I could go on about this film forever. The film is beautiful. In visuals, in sound design and acting performance a like, but most of all in its writing.
This films writing is so clever and at times it seems certain scenes were adapted to fit the wonderful child actors performance. The dialogue flowed really naturally in the hospital scenes and was really hard hitting at times. The characterisation of Roy is so beautifully done and Lee Pace performance is phenomenal, as per.
The cinematography and editing are phenomenal and flow really well in tandem to create this really vibrant, immersive experience. Not to mention the costuming and makeup decisions are nothing short of perfect. (Lee pace in guyliner you will always be famous)
Even on my first watch, this film and Roy as a character have become so important to me personally. Its a super impactful film emotionally.
I adore repeating motifs in film, and this masterpiece makes brilliant use of them, the call backs and consistencies are just wonderful.
**Absolutely worth the watch.
