when she looks around at the audience, all crying with her, i finally understood that this was shakespeare’s way of making sure she would never grieve alone. hamlet is a promise that their son would be remembered and mourned forever. a film about grief becoming something shared, something endless. and today, sitting there in the cinema, i felt it too.
