I watched it two days ago in cinema and I couldn’t get myself to write anything about it till now, because it was resonating in me this whole time and to be honest still is. There are particular things, which I want to draw attention to, so I’m gonna talk about them gradually and then sum up everything and rate. As an entry I must admit, that I can’t recall any other film in my mind, which influenced me so much. I wasn’t able to organise my thoughts about it for two days and that didn’t happend to me before. It just had something, that shocked and hit me really hard. For starters I have to give credit to marvelous acting! There wasn’t even a single scene in which the actors wouldn’t convince me. Biggest shoutout to the person responsible for casting, because they did the truly amazing job. The one who stole my heart the most was Jared Leto. I haven’t seen any movie casting him before, so it was my first experience and at the same time the biggest (positive) shock. Apart from the fact, that this man is the most gorgeous and handsome one I’ve ever seen and I got a little crush now, his acting was Oscar worthy without any doubt! There is one scene, that especially stuck in my memory and shows how amazing of an actor he is. It’s the one when Harry is at his mother’s and realise that she’s been using without being aware of that and how miserable she really is. The moment when he is driving in a cab and crying gave me chills and was one of the best and most convincible performances I’ve ever seen in cinema. Not everybody could’ve done that, but he not only did it, but also how well! Next thing is the whole vibe and portrayal of the feeling of being high. Darren Aronofsky does not demonise it, he portrays it to us as euphoric and shows it the way characters feel while being under the influence of drugs. It is controversial, but surprisingly, at the end, it intensifies the viewer’s disgust towards drugs. By being able to see how blissfully they feel and also seeing consequences of it, we hate the whole process more, even though it seems as ecstatic. Next thing that I wrote while thinking about it is the whole relationship between Harry and Marion. I dare to say, that it’s one of the best portrayals of real, true love in film. Theirs love started really pure, though they were having some problems with drugs already, but they were there for each other. I really love the scene in which Harry talks to Marion about starting her business and he really IS thinking about her while having a perspective to succeed on his own. He still takes her into account, that’s truly beautiful. But this love gradually becomes more and more destructive for both of them as they’re getting each other deeper in a problem with drugs. Instead of helping each other they are doing opposite. We can also see this in a last scenes. They fell epically, but even at their worst they still think about each other and love each other. That’s painful, but beautiful. It highlights the enormous drama of this situation. I also really appreciate how the director showed us, that problem with drugs can happen to every person whether it is an old lady having eating disorder or young adults having whole lives before them. Literally everyone may give in to temptation or be manipulated and not be fully aware of what he’s doing. Extra points also for showing us a thread with a e.d. It’s not the main one here, but also not so little and how important. Especially nowadays. It perfectly pictures how thin the line between having a problem and trying to solve it with even worse way is. The truth is you can’t treat one addiction by starting another. And here we see it clearly. Soundtrack is the next fantastic thing. It’s hip hop, but have this psychedelic thing in it, so we can identify with the users and feel almost how they are. It’s terrific, but bizarre at the same time with which it confuses the viewer. It suits this film perfectly! Now I’m coming to an end so I have to say a few words about the ending. It’s truly blood-curdling. I had big chills while watching it and after movie ended I needed to sit in the cinema chair for a while to digest what I just saw. I’m not exaggerating when I’m saying I was terrified by it. That shows what an amazing job they’ve done while making this film. I think that every young person should watch it at least once. And not only young, but really everyone. This film deserved Oscar so bad. It’s the most shocking one I’ve ever watched and I’m gonna stand by this opinion. It’s amazing, but watching it once in a lifetime is enough for me.

I just love this movie so much!! Watched it at the cinema and it was amazing experience.
