I really don't know what to make of this film. It feels like it's from the 70s or 80s yet Tim Roth says otherwise. The mood is so quiet and restrained, it's quite impressive really.
Yet the lead performances generally under par (save Roth and, in particular, Udo Kier), that it's hard to take overly seriously, despite the impressive attention to detail.
It's not hugely interesting, despite the powerful subject matter. Yet it's stayed with me in the hours since watching. The ending is truly tragic.
