If Singham was about righteousness and Sooryavanshi was about patriotism, Simmba is about Ranveer Singh screaming his way through a two-and-a-half-hour-long Rohit Shetty fever dream. It’s loud, flashy, and basically a Bollywood remix of every cop film ever made.
The plot? A corrupt cop turns good after a tragic event. Shocking, right? Ranveer plays Simmba, a police officer who starts off as a bribe-taking, dance-loving goofball until he suddenly grows a conscience. Enter Sonu Sood as the generic bad guy, Sara Ali Khan as the token love interest with zero relevance, and a bunch of slow-motion action sequences where the laws of physics are brutally murdered.
The humor is cringeworthy at times, the emotional beats feel forced, and the film drags longer than it should. But the real highlight comes in the last 15 minutes when Ajay Devgn’s Singham shows up and steals the thunder, proving that Shetty’s entire Cop Universe is just an endless build-up for Singham’s slow-mo entry.
