Trash ass advertisement thinly disguised as a documentary. He's talked before about taking gigs with the sole underhanded intention of promoting his own businesses, and I'm sure this doc is no different. I can just picture Gordon being like yeah come over on these two days to film me with me kids then fuckoff. Gordon is clearly a psychological case, a complete workaholic. This guy had another set of kids 20 years later just to neglect them for work again xD and when u finally get a scene with him and his daughter it's her saying how she misses him bc he's gone all the time. And then at the very end when he reveals he's got a new project in nyc and his wife starts crying 😭 it makes sense a documentary about his life would center mostly around whatever he's working on at that moment. The idea of him knowing he's not got much left in the tank and wants to make one big career statement is interesting, but the resulting product that is this commercial feels so boring and phony. There's so much emphasis on family as a theme, but besides his wife and half his kids, his family is entirely absent. A whole episode about him fucking with car races, another promoting his Filipino business ventures. They should rename this to Being 22 Bishopsgate because that's really what this doc is about. Just Gordon glazing it the whole time like please come here to this tall building that sways with the wind. My favorite parts were seeing him in action, like when he brutally criticized his sous chef's dish ideas (they even follow his sous chef's life for a while to pad out the runtime; Gordon's like fuckoff from my house mate go interview my chef or something 🤣 nah I'm playin ik he supposed to be a protege) or when he braved the storm during the restaurant's soft launch.
