lowkey didn’t expect to like this but it was so interesting. i love learning about history especially history most people have forgotten. i always forget garfield was ever president. in this miniseries we see how he was elected to how he died. and it was so insane. like wdym he literally went to the republican national convention to give and speech and then became the nominee like that’s insane.
the casting, costumes, and sets were magnificent. the cinematography was beautiful. everyone better get golden globes for this especially betty glipin, matthew macfayden (he played crazy a little to well), and ofc the icon nick offerman. nick offerman ate his role up as chester arthur.
it’s actually insane the reason garfield died. i mean first he was shot obviously by guiteau who literally shot him because he didn’t give him a place in his cabinet after he thought he helped him get the presidency. but he would have lived if the doctor left the bullet and freaking cleaned his instruments like bro your so freaking stupid. i hate that doctor. he reminds me of the one from downton abbey (iykyk)
the first lady was absolutely iconic. her monologue at the end in the jail was insane. i love her.
