"there's nothing like fresh air with a rod in your hand."
this is probably the most beautiful television series i have seen. and the description does not do it justice at all, or rather it's too ambiguous. apart from my sweet and beautiful prince john lurie, he goes fishing with the likes of jim jarmusch, willem dafoe, tom waits, matt dillon, and dennis hopper. the series has a mix of charming late-night tv aesthetics and doing stupid shit with your friends. john at one point attempts to catch a blue shark using jim jarmusch to bait the shark with cheese, and then using a handgun to take the shark out. surprisingly that didn't work. I thought using john's music added a nice touch and almost felt the perfect soundtrack? i guess it matched the ethereal sense of it all. anyway a beautiful piece of media, with beautiful men, beautiful narration, and beautiful humour.
and yes I commit letterboxd sacrilege by adding a mini series to my top four, come at me.
