Honestly, this is one of the best comedies I’ve ever seen in a really long time.
I personally think there are a couple of things that make this show both fun and relatable.
First: the way they manage to mix together the realness and rawness of the characters and their stories while also maintaining the fun spirit of the show. So what I’m saying is that, when this show is fun IT IS LAUGHING UR TITS OFF FUNNY, and when it gets serious IT IS CRYING UR TITS OFF SAD.
Second: I don’t quite believe in perfect casting, but whoever had the idea of putting Hannah Einbinder and Jean Smart together was a fucking G.
Third: Ava’s and Deborah’s relationship. Cause when I started watching this, I thought that their relationship was gonna end up being romantic. Especially for the edits I kept seeing on TikTok, but I really loved how they were not romantic but at the same time their relationship was stronger and deeper than most romantic relationships I’ve seen on TV, cause there was something way bigger and deeper keeping them together than sex. And I’ve seen multiple attempts of relationships like that in media, but their relationship was written perfectly.
Fourth: The jokes and kind of humor the show manages, cause I do think that the jokes that they do, especially Ava, about Gen Z and stuff land so well cause most of the time she is trying to explain something to Deborah, and that is what makes them actually funny, and I did want to talk about it cause I’m SICK AND TIRED of seeing shows trying and failing miserably to make “Gen Z” kind of jokes that actually seeing a show doing it so effortlessly and achieving such success is actually really refreshing to see.
So if you ever watched the Golden Globes and have ever wondered “who are these bitches that keep winning year after year?” I strongly suggest you watch this show cause honestly you are not gonna regret it.
