Donnie Darko

This movie is confusing, morbid and feels like a fever dream. Despite that, incredible. It makes you question.  I admit, I was a bit lost on some parts. It was very difficult to follow and you really have to pay full attention to it in order to understand, but it’s worth it.  Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance in here was fantastic. He’s one of the actors that when you watch them on screen, you don’t see the actor, you see the character. He encapsulated schizophrenia insanely well.  Frank is also interesting as a character. Even though he’s oddly creepy in Donnie’s mind, I wanted to learn more about him and was a bit upset when we didn’t get to.  Soundtrack was gold, Mad World is one of my favorite songs, and the visuals were breathtaking. I had high expectations for this movie, I can’t say it disappointed.  “I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to.”
