> *"Is it better to speak or to die?"*this has to be one of the most disgusting movies I have ever watched. this movie is about a 17 year old a 24-year-old supposedly having chemistry and falling in love, nothing about this movie is sensual or beautiful or romantic in any way. while Italy itself is a beautiful place, this movie has tainted that reputation and image with the disgusting association of what this movie is. you can see that elio is always hung up on how he thinks of himself as disgusting, not oliver but himself. he is clearly being groomed, yet his parents are negligent of the fact and seem to support it? there is no chemistry in this movie, elio states that he thinks oliver hates him at first, which then builds up to oliver making the first move on a minor. *"you made me feel like I'd molested you"* the fact that this is an actual quote, something that was said in this movie, sickens me to my stomach. this movie has to be one of the most disgusting and boring things I've ever watched in my whole life. and aside from the pedophilia and grooming, which is disgusting and cannot be ignored as it is constantly shoved in your face, especially when elio mentions his age multiple times throughout the movie and after they first kiss and so on elio talks about some *"I won't tell anyone if you're worried..." "you won't get in trouble..."* I'm sick. this has to be one of the most nothing burger movies I've ever watched, there is no chemistry, no plot, genuinely just pure boredom for 2 hours and 12 minutes. I get that it isn’t a love story but a movie about love but the amount of people that call this some sensual, dirty, romantic and so on movie is genuinely astonishing. this movie is about love and how it effects you and each party involved it’s not just centered on elio and oliver but also the girls, the mother, the father, the uncles and so on. also this movie obviously isn’t hated on because it’s gay it’s hated because it’s properly disgusting. the family clearly isn’t homophobic and are accepting the movie is just about grooming.

this is such an upsetting documentary. I watched it for my society and culture class for nature v nurture, and it really upset me. the scientists are the problem in this situation, as well as the adoption agency. morals and ethics definetley weren't considered in this experiment, only greed and money.

> *"It's alive... It's alive!"* mary shelleys frankenstein, a novel which begins time after time being taken out of context and creating the narrative of the other, a monster, when in reality the one who is the monster is not the creature but the creator. *"quite a good scene, isn't it? one man, crazy - three very sane spectators!"* watching this film through the lens of the novel, all I could see were the flaws and inaccuracies, although I must admit it is not a bad movie on its own; knowing the story it is based on creates a harrowing perspective. *"you have created a monster, and it will destroy you!"* the scenes that stood out to me were the creation, through the delivery of the iconic line *"It's alive!"* and the whole admittance and accuracy of his sanity, or as I should call it, insanity, his obsession with creating life. the scene of maria and the creature, before he threw her in the water... but the part where he is discovering the world too, conversing and smelling flowers and also in relation to maria the scene of the father walking down the street holding the dead body of his daughter.
