Frankenstein
"It's alive... It's alive!"
mary shelleys frankenstein, a novel which begins time after time being taken out of context and creating the narrative of the other, a monster, when in reality the one who is the monster is not the creature but the creator.
"quite a good scene, isn't it? one man, crazy - three very sane spectators!"
watching this film through the lens of the novel, all I could see were the flaws and inaccuracies, although I must admit it is not a bad movie on its own; knowing the story it is based on creates a harrowing perspective.
"you have created a monster, and it will destroy you!"
the scenes that stood out to me were the creation, through the delivery of the iconic line "It's alive!" and the whole admittance and accuracy of his sanity, or as I should call it, insanity, his obsession with creating life. the scene of maria and the creature, before he threw her in the water... but the part where he is discovering the world too, conversing and smelling flowers and also in relation to maria the scene of the father walking down the street holding the dead body of his daughter.
