Moon Knight
"what you wanna remember the truth?"
I could've easily watched all of this in a day, but I got distracted because I didn't think the episodes would get better. episode 3 was slow-paced, not saying it wasn't good, but it definitely didn't give me the urge to keep watching.
ALMOST missed out on peak, episode 4 is where it started looking up, I was like "okay, I see you." episode 5. oh. my. god. If I could insert images into letterboxd reviews, it would be the absolute cinema image, episode 5 and 6 absolutely made this show, I am in genuine awe of how amazing they were.
I loved the whole plot twist that marc was actually the original. I was thinking something along those lines, the whole time I was watching I kind of had a subconscious thought of "how do we know who is actually the holder of the body?" and then. god.
I feel like moon knight portrays mental health, specifically personality disorders, specifically dissociative identity disorder, in such a complex and perfect way, it makes it understandable to the person watching it, while also showing us how hard it is to understand, and how some, even including the person with the disorder, may not understand it.
I love how, instead of just showing us there was a third it just kept subtly hinting at it, in a way that would get us to begin to wonder, then during the final fight, basically showing us that there is, and then in the post-credit scene confirming it. I also appreciated how the solution to marc returning to the overworld wasn't "forgetting" steven, because how are you supposed to get rid of a disorder?
marc spector, steven grant, moon knight, jake lockley, you are all so dear to me.
"meet my friend. jake lockley."
