Videodrome
"to become the new flesh, you have to kill the old flesh."I cannot even begin to describe how beautiful this movie is and how much it absolutely means to me. It is a masterpiece, genuinely. I am in awe of how amazing this movie is, never did I think david corenberg would be such a good director and make such an amazing movie, but here I am proved wrong, devastatingly so.
"after all, there is nothing real outside our perception of reality, is there?"
this movie also manages to pose a moral question, why would anyone watch videodrome? Is it part of the human condition to be curious, and does the punishment fit the crime?
this movie had such a monotonous tone, I mean every theme it followed and the way in which it was said was always so haunting yet hauntingly true, the reality.
the acting is stunning, superb even, the script is developed, and clearly thought out, each character speaks so eloquently and has clearly been through trial and error, each monologue and dialogue and so on mean so much because of how beautiful they are. the special effects were ahead of their time; this whole movie was ahead of its time.
80s horror was genuinely something different, I am in awe, I was entranced the whole time whilst watching this movie, genuinely in the way it felt like I myself may have been watching videodrome david corenberg has such an original, devastating and brilliant take on body horror, it's genuinely inspiring. the details and thoughts that went into carefully curating the message of this movie about how the screen unlocks people's brains, whoever controls the content can put whatever they please, curating and directing the person's brain, putting whatever they want in your brain, then who is really in control? the tv screen is the retina of one's mind.
