Dune: Part Two
*“Lead them to paradise.”

Without a doubt, the greatest sci-fi film of this decade. Denis Villenueve does such incredible things here, this whole film is a marvel to look at. Theres few films that feel such grandiose and unique in their scale and presentation, something only Villenueve can capture. He puts the words of Herbert’s work to screen in the best way possible, and creates a vision so singular, so perfect. Theres so much confidence in his film making, and every actor in this does their part and then some. Austin Butler is a newer star and a very pleasant surprise in this, playing Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, and doing an excellent job at it too. Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, and Stellan Skarsgard do an amazing job in their roles too. Stellan is exceptional as The Baron, being a hulking mass of flesh and greed. Dune part 2 is not only one of the greatest sequels of all time, it even makes the first film better. While Dune part 1, in my opinion, drags quite a lot, Dune 2 is incredibly well paced, and doesn’t feature the same obnoxiously visually dark scenes that the first film suffers from towards the end of its 25-minute-too-long runtime. Dune part 2 is a legendary film, and sets up the holy war of Messiah so well. Dune part 3 will assuredly be masterful, Villenueve is definitely the man to direct something as large as a galaxy-spanning war of religion, and with no doubt of the incredible performance Timothee Chalamet will put on.
An incredible film, and one I loathe myself for not seeing on the big screen.
