Conclave

i watched it again while reading through the script and i am very sad they cut off so many interactions with vincent ; in the very first scene he appears, he is ready to return to kabul and face the consequences of coming to the vatican in the turtles scene, he is supposed to explain what they mean in his culture which is very important for their symbolic in the movie> Where I come from, they are considered very special animals. They symbolise healing and transformation.there is also a full discussion when Thomas arrives in Vincent's bedroom to tell him -the second time- to resign his vote. first off, Vincent opens the door nakey nakey.> A door opens a little and Benitez peers cautiously out at us, his open cassock clutched together at his throat. [...] To Thomas' surprise, Benitez disappears back into the room, leaving him standing in the corridor. After a moment he reappears, clothed now.then Thomas ticks about the untouched razor in vincent's toiletries which i find interesting (but maybe it was too revealing of the twist in a way) > Lawrence watches for a moment and then sighs. He wets thumb and forefinger and snuffs out the candle beside the bed. As he does he stares, distracted, at the little razor, out of place in the bedroom, still in its cellophane wrapper. And wonders why he has noted this .Vincent was also supposed to bring food to Lawrence before the scene of the revelation of Tremblay's simony in the last scene too, he explains the political context on why it was more prized to be a boy in his country when he was small> I was born to poor parents, in a community where boys were more prized than girls. And the life in the seminary is, as you know, a very modest one.we were also supposed to see him being revealed as the new pope on TV :( (also a fun detail is in the beginning, Lawrence was supposed to call Tedesco to tell him about the holy father's death)
