For Sama
For Sama, For Every Child💔
*● war ●*Heartbreaking movies*
I don’t even know how to review this docu
You watch it knowing it’s a documentary, but somehow that makes everything hurt even more. There are no actors, no script, no distance between you and what’s happening. Just people trying to live while their city is slowly being destroyed.
What broke me the most wasn’t even the destruction. It was seeing people still trying to have a normal life. A wedding. A baby laughing. Friends joking. A mother taking care of her child. Little moments of happiness surrounded by something completely unbearable.
*
And then there’s Sama>>>>
*
The fact that Waad made all of this for her daughter makes the whole film feel like a message from a mother to a child who was born into a world she never chose.
I finished this film and just sat there for a while
Some documentaries inform you
Some make you angry
This one makes you feel like you were there
*
And the hardest part is knowing that the suffering we see in this film isn’t only history. Even today, in Gaza, a fragile ceasefire hasn’t stopped the violence and suffering
