Somewhere along the way, I felt it🙁 *●Most anticipated movies.. of 2025/26 ranked * *I stopped watching. I started feeling ,I don't even know when this movie got me this deeply. At first, I had this feeling that I already knew where it was going, but somewhere along the way I stopped watching it from the outside and started living with these characters. I felt their sadness, their awkward silences, their regrets, and everything they couldn't really say to each other👌* * There was something about the daughter that stayed with me especially. I kept feeling like I understood what she was carrying even when the movie wasn't explaining everything directly. By the time I realised how emotionally invested I had become, I was already sitting there with this weird, heavy sadness that felt much bigger than I expected.* And the acting... Stellan Skarsgård was fucking incredible. He doesn't even feel like an actor playing a director hhe genuinely feels like a filmmaker who has spent his whole life turning everything into cinema, even the people around him. There's something so human and complicated about his performance. You can be annoyed by him, understand him, feel sorry for him, and then be frustrated with him again within the same scene. But what really got me was how Joachim Trier makes the whole film feel like it's playing with you. Just when you think you're watching a family drama, it becomes a movie about filmmaking. Then it becomes a movie about memory, then acting, then the way people turn their own pain into art. And somehow all of those things keep feeding into each other. The cinematography is beautiful without constantly screaming look how beautiful I am.The music fits the sadness perfectly, and there are so many moments where the image, the performance and the music just come together and completely pull me into the film. It feels like a film about people trying to understand each other through art because they don't know how to do it through words.
