To start I have not read the comic but that is what I will do shortly to really get a grasp on how well it is as an adaptation, but for now I will soley judge it without that in mind. I was incredibly excited about this movie since hearing about it. I loved superman so much and in general have loved lots of the new dc projects. First off, the positives. Milly Alcock gave an incredible performance and was easily the best part of this movie. She handled both the fun and depressing parts of the characters with such a realistic balance and you could really feel the characters struggle through her performance and I am so excited to see her in future projects both as supergirl and whatever work she does (still need to finish house of the dragon). A potential more hot take but I did like lots of the cinematography of the movie. I know the comic is beautiful and that realistically it wouldn’t compare to it but as I have yet to read it that’s not impacting my score. Shots like krem basked in flame after killing Knolls family or the needle drop towards the end. The fights themselves were also fun with special mentions to the space pirate fight and the aforementioned needle drop. However the movie did have a few issues. Lobo was completely irrelevant to the movie and impacted literally nothing. They should have adapted him to actually be a more impactful part of the story or just had him as a cameo. But let me clarify I did like the scenes with him and thought Jason momoa was super fun in this role, I just wish it was relevant to the story at all. Krem also could have been utilised more and I wish we had seen more of a chase for him as it felt like we never really knew much about him in the end. It also felt like the movie was trying to be James Gunn, lots of the elements felt familiar to his directing style but as it wasn’t directed by him it was not done as well as it would have been if directly directed by him. These are my like main points but I overall did enjoy this movie and did have a lot of fun with it so I’m still excited for future projects from dc.

Objectively this is a very good and fun movie. However so much stuff in it pissed me off to a crazy degree. Mainly with the sister and I know I’m supposed to be pissed off by her actions but it’s indescribably rage I feel towards her. The whole movie she was just horrible to the main character which is one thing. But to literally tear their mothers wedding dress into scraps, basically for the fun of it since she added like one element from it onto a new dress, while fully knowing and acknowledging earlier on in the movie that her sister wants to get married in it. To then not even remotely apologise for it and how she’s treated her sister in general towards the climax. I’m glad her wedding got ruined. But overall it’s a very good movie. My fav scenes were the trying on of all the dresses with the guy from Hop and the bar scene. And ofc the wedding getting ruined.
