Amadeus
Immaculate.
Writing this the day after, I cant stop thinking about this movie. I put this movie off for so long; being a 3 hour period piece (that I assumed was a biopic), I didn’t think it’d be for me. But having seen it only once, it’s already a top 25 movie for me and definitely a contender for one of the best movies I’ve seen on an objective level. (It honestly might be between this film and Parasite)
Both Mozart and Salieri are brilliant and endlessly interesting characters and their one sided fued is so compelling.
One of the most impressive elements is the pacing. This is one of the fastest feeling 3 hour movies of my life. (I watched the Directors Cut of course) Somehow they made a Mozart period piece as exciting and energetic as filmmaking gets. I had so much fun watching this and never wanted it to end.
Everything about this movie is great. The makeup and set design is incredible, the use of music is incredible, and of course the acting is amazing. It’s so good I’m at a loss of words and can’t possible sum up my thoughts on it. This really surprised me.
Add this to your watchlist and let me know when we should watch party. Lowkey the day after and I already have the urge to rewatch.
