i feel like i don’t even have to explain myself. first vampire movie i’ve watched that’s actually good. plot was fantastic, music was awesome, and action was irresistible. didn’t look away once the entire time. even the beginning of the movie with the twins going around to recruit people was amazing in its own right. plus, i mean, the music cmon it’s absolutely brilliant. also this movie tackled difficult social issues — culture, racism, and conformity — well in a new type of way. a tasteful commentary on the powers of culture and music, the threats they pose to conformist society, and the ways they’ve been appropriated and erased. incredibly original concept and execution, and an impressive feat to make a vampire movie feel so singular. visually, musically, and thematically spectacular and brimming with rich ideas. plus michael b jordan is just him — so much aura. watched in van nuys (the ghetto according to aarna) with aarna and ishu. got in n out for the first time ever right before 😋
