What exactly does high school teach us? Particularly, what does it teach us about our self-worth? How do the assholes that teach in and run the school cultivate this often-adverse environment? What is the end of being in student council for example? Many characters in this film are self-interested, driven by the long game, never enjoying nor experiencing the present. This describes both the characters of Witherspoon and Broderick, while dissenters to this mindset are actively suppressed. This is a beautifully crafted work of comedy. Good stuff.
