The Leopard

This movie takes “save the best for last” to a whole other level. The one hour ballroom finale is the most spectacular epic sequences in any film I’ve ever seen. It’s so opulent and rich, like the best dessert in an amazing meal put to film. I am obsessed with Alain Delon and Claudia Cardinale’s performances. Their courtship and romance was easily my favourite part of the film, and energized the slower pace of the film as a whole. This film is a masterpiece in every respect, it’s so easy to see why prominent directors today are still influenced by it. I loved it so much, I’m probably gonna listen to the commentary while rewatching it later this week. The Leopard was such a pleasant surprise.
