Nope
the rain scene is probably one of my favorite scenes in all of cinema. the terrified screams of the people looming over the house echoing in the belly of this creature—this animal—is haunting. the first time i watched their blood rain down and paint the house red i was so in awe of the scene and the very idea of it that i cried real tears. beautiful gorgeous horrifying. to be eaten up and spat out when no longer of use… and the use of practical and cgi effects is just so good !!! a perfect balance that masters the art of showing just enough and leaving the audience filling in the gaps. it’s a masterpiece really.
jean jackets design is by far one of the most unique (dare i say Best !) alien designs i’ve ever seen. you really can’t change my mind. when she fans out and becomes this angelic creature is even more so. the way jean jacket moves in its “ufo” form is so unsettling. when it was following overhead oj the very first time i got goosebumps. and as if almost swam through the air like a jellyfish at the end in its second form was amazing as well. just incredible creative choices here. she ignites a primal fear with her hunting and territorial instincts.
which leads me into gordy !!! god that scene as he inches closer to the table tepe is hiding under is just tense and horrifying no matter how many times i watch it. all until the very end when he’s put down. even then, it’s heartbreaking.
i got so emotional when oj was leading jean jacket away from em so she could get away on the bike. ok haywood the bravest character in cinema. god that shit was just beautiful. the light peaking through jean jackets body (?) was a heavenly sight. much to be said about a big brother protecting his little sister from a watchful and violent eye in the sky !!!!!!!!!
