The Fly

“Help me. Help me be human.” there is a tragic romance in watching your lover make a slow grotesque transformation into something unrecognizable to you and to themselves. body horror that is equal parts disgusting and devastating. the effects feels absolutely timeless. it’s amazing how they’ve truly made this man into something completely different. i was squirming away from the screen and marveling at how gross it really was.  it was wet and fleshy and gross and gorgeous.  the most horrifying part of it all is the way he hadn’t completely lost his humanity by the end. he was still in there begging to be killed.  cronenberg truly is a genius
