Continuing the David Fincher movies rewatch, I decided after many years to rewatch Seven, which as the years go by gets even more hype. To be clear, it is indeed a very good movie. Nice script, properly set and shocking (somewhat predictable but ok) final scene with the box, smooth and nicely built relationship between the two protagonists, smart idea of the murderer seeing himself as the right one in the whole case, under the word of God, and generally a very well structured and executed movie. Because I don't want my review to be covered with a negative veil for a movie that I really enjoyed watching, I want to make it clear that in terms of the script it is not something wow, we have seen better mystery thrillers. Now that that's out of the way, I want to emphasize how much I liked the atmosphere of the film and its world. Fincher gives 100% of himself to every scene and shows you from the very first minute how corrupt the world is, how dangerous everyday life is and generally presents you with a perfect way the swamp in which the protagonists live. The rot and darkness of Fincher's direction is something that I can't get enough of no matter how many of his films I see. Spending time analyzing the performances of Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman is unnecessary because their work speaks for itself. Memorable performances from two of the greatest in the field, what else can I say...
A great film, that simply I PERSONALLY think that’s not worth all of that hype, I've seen better 🤷🏻♂️
P.S. Just learned that the script was fully prototype and made up by the writers. The whole idea wasnt affected by a book or a real story or whatever. I got to give somethink extra for that cause parthenogenesis is somethink unknown for todays writers...
