Michael
First of all, the music is amazing– Jaafar did a spectacular job, I almost wept from the songs; thinking I went back and saw MJ through the eyes of some teenage fangirl probably dealing with a crisis at the present. Im so conflicted on what to really rate this movie, even form an opinion on it. That said, im not a super fan myself– i only love his songs, I know nothing of the man that wasn't either pushed by my socials, my mom, brother, and aunts and uncle. But im not too oblivious to know that's not the full picture. Before everyone starts hooting about a sequel coming– that's not what I meant!!! What about Diana Ross? The Wiz movie? Studio 54? Motown 25? My gosh, the movie is too safe and too quick– terrible knowing what it could've been if it weren't for the legal problems.
Am I saying this movie is phenomenal? Yea, but was it perfect? No. It felt repetitive to see the same format– great thing happens, a run in with his dad, timeskip, and it repeats– But strike me down with lightning if you catch me saying I did not enjoy this movie cause they are an imposter. A spectacular movie celebrating the king of pop himself.
