*'your mother, is in love with someone now... this guy's really sweet and serious. i think he is really looking out for me. so, if he promises to really... to really marry me, then we can all live in a big house and you can all go to school... so just hang on a little longer' *reminded me of my childhood :(, already felt a twang in my heart and immense fear just with that line. intimate, heartbreaking film depicting the effects of childhood neglect. so many subtle details that add to the horror of the situation, i'd cry but im too stunned by the apathetic, childlike portrayal of the events of the film. kore-eda is insane.
