Soul
I forgot about this one. Sentimental movie moments have been hitting me like crazy lately. Last time it was Ladybird and before it was Wonka. Now it’s Soul. It’s hard to find a movie my parents and my brother and I can enjoy and just sit and watch. Neither my parents nor my brother had seen this one so I threw it out there just cause I remember it being good and it’s Pixar. And then the movie started and everything started happening. My mom fell asleep as usual. Will was engaged but was also peeking at his phone. My dad was making lil comments about how interesting it was and who he thought the actors and actresses were. And I just forgot about how impactful this movie is. How big and beautiful and lively it is. But it’s also kind of freaky. Reminds me a little bit of movies similar to “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. Weird and trippy yet it’s one of the realest movies you’ve ever seen. And the emotions hit but it’s not about friends realizing they need each other or a character dying. It’s about life. And how complicated and weird it is and how the little things in life are beautiful. And it hit, and at some point my dad grabbed my hand as we sat and watched this. It’s just beautiful and it feels more experimental and out there compared to other Pixar’s and it really worked.
