I think this might have been my first ever true war movie, apart from Inglorious Bastards, (which feels very different than this), and what a way to enter the genre. The commitment to the one continuous shot look throughout the movie is breathtaking. Watching what Schofield endures throughout this film is an incredible experience. This felt like such a raw look into war on the level of the foot solider. We got to see a man actually change something within this movie, no matter what trials he faced along his journey. I don't know if it is just because I am new to this genre, but I doubt many war films will surpass this one for me, many may come close, but I doubt they will move me and have me as purely entertained and engrossed as this film did.
