i genuinely don’t know how to explain what this movie did to me. their relationship is cold, obsessive, controlling and yet it feels strangely intimate.
alma is what really got me. she stays gentle, but she’s never weak. she doesn’t try to overpower reynolds or compete with him. she just slowly shifts the balance. she refuses to disappear inside his world even when that world is built entirely around control and perfection. and somehow she wins without ever raising her voice.
reynolds is exhausting. dramatic. impossible. but also fascinating. you can see why someone would fall for him even if you know it’s a bad idea. he’s awf but he’s human. and that’s what makes it work.
it’s not healthy. it’s not ideal. but it feels honest in its own strange way. like two difficult people finding a rhythm that only makes sense to them.
I LOVE ITTT
