Scarface
there’s nothing sadder than coked up tony montana asking about elvira and mourning gina and manny’s death by his own hands and realizing he can never be satisfied with the life and the brutal pursuit of consumerism and greed he killed and will die for. yeah the quotable moments are fun and i did lose my shit at the “push it to the limit” montage once again but you cannot understate the underlying messages. brian de palma just draws you into the neon sleaze and corruption of his 80s miami and oliver stone writes a mean oliver stone screenplay and everyone rocks their roles! it’s an incredible film that encapsulates the 80s yet somehow remains so timeless to me. i wish i had a push it to the limit montage every now and then. minus the coke
