Aftersun
You spend the whole movie waiting for something to happen and when you realize, everything had already happened :(
The dad was not okay, and you can tell that it doesn’t matter how much people around him try their best to make him feel loved, he will still feel that empty feeling, that sadness will never completely disappear. But at the same time he will faked being okay just to her daughter feel better. When he said he never really felt like he belong in his own hometown, oh, i really felt that. When someone grows up feeling like they dont fit there, then all feels like their just trying to NOT disappear :)
"Don't you ever feel like... you've just done a whole amazing day and then you come home and feel tired and down and... it feels like your bones don't work, they're just tired, and everything is tired. Like you're sinking. I don't know, it's weird." ho did you just twist the knife?
His face when Sophie explained how she was feeling, and his face just turned into a complete disappointment about himself, cause he just felt like he passed his own depression to his little daughter. And unfortunately that is what happens in real life, when you are constantly with a depressed person, that depression somehow will be in you too.
And the final scene, wow. Is not just a dance, is not just a hug, that hug represents an apology, being expressed between her childhood and her maturity, then you realize is just Sophie remembering through the videos and in the dark she tried to find her father, but to find him first she first had to understand him.
“I think is nice that we share the same sky.”-What do you mean?“Well, sometimes at playing I look up to the sky, and if I can see the sun then I think about the fact that we can both see the sun, so even though we’re not actually in the same place and we’re not actually together. We kind of are in a way you know? like we both underneath the same sky so were kind of together.(i just think i really dont get this movie the way i would like to cause i have the best relation with my dad so to me the trama was kind of incomplete, but is a great movie seeing it from the depressive side)
