Before Sunset
*"Let me sing you a waltz
**About this one night stand
**You were, for me, that night
**Everything I always dreamt of in life
**But now you're gone
**You are far gone
*All the way to your island of rain"Upon first impressions, Before Sunset is a reflection of one's youth nine years ago and the growth one's had in those years. It is when you dive headfirst into the magical film that you realize it's more than that, it's a dreamer's chance of vicariously answering the biggest what if of their life.
It's not a good Linklater film if the conversations aren't captivating, and the conversations were indeed just that. As a successor to such a massive predecessor that is Before Sunrise meant there was a very high bar for Before Sunset to pass. And despite my doubts it surpassed the bar with ease and grace. This time around, with their masters degree from the Pride and Prejudice school of yearning, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy tore my heart apart even more viscerally. As they stroll along the streets of Paris, I felt as if I was there. Like a bird on a nearby tree. Intruding on an intimate moment. A spectacular screenplay infused with beautiful cinematography, I was enchanted from start to finish in every sense of the word.
