Conclave
"Certainty is the deadly enemy of tolerance"We often throw the word diva around but this... This is a true messy diva convention.
Though I was originally skeptical of Conclave's enjoyability as a bunch of religious white men arguing isn't exactly my favorite cup of tea but I was glad to be proven wrong. The film is anything but boring. It's claustrophobic. It's stress-inducing. It's captivating. But it's never boring.
Very tightly shot with a killer score, this film impressed me in many aspects and the acting was impeccable. What more can I say I love these drama queens.
But don't mistake these comments about the 'messiness' as me saying the film has no depth. The story is a nuanced commentary on faith, religion and community. About the ways in which we should navigate the world of politics as a devout believer. The screenplay is a truly marvelous work of art. Don't underestimate it.
Now all I need to be happy is for someone to edit this movie RuPaul's Drag Race style.
