Barbie
I'm in AWE... I still can't believe that this is an actual movie, that I just actually watched... And loved from beginning to end. Barbie is ✨cinema✨ in the same way that the film bros™️ define the word. The movie references, the call-backs. This is satire at its finest. You don't understand the amount of times I just burst out laughing. And can we talk about that perfect ending? - let me tell you I'm not one to clap at the end of movies, but I had to, I just had to clap for the incredible work done by everyone in this. Special shot-outs to Michael Cera who just bodied Allan, America Ferrara trying to get her Oscar nom with that speech and the -almost- entire main cast of Sex Education (Greta must really be a fan and I don't blame her).
Some little girls (around the ages of 8-9) coming out of the theater were saying to each other: "I didn't get it" and I just wanted to tell them, this movie wasn't made for you, little girls - at least not yet- you need to grow up and realize many things in order for you to get it. This was made for the mothers, aunts even some grandmothers. The women that remember fondly playing with these dolls and dreaming and believing.
I'm gonna need to see it, many more times and I will because I just feel like this could become one of my favorite movies ever. But for now, I'll just say that the Ken song won't leave my head for the foreseeable future and that I want the song to get a Best Original Song nomination and performance by Mr. Kenough himself.
