People only take into account that it’s “the banned anime!” or “ew it shows rape..!” This movie was inspired by the reality of many J-Pop idols were scrutinized by the general public and shamed for not beinga pure woman”. Those same “fans” would also would become obsessive, building a parasocial relationship with these idols and going as far as to stalk and murder them. Obviously the portrayal of that will be disturbing and for mature audiences. The fact that I even I need to explain that to some people is insane when that’s clearly shown in the film, and the whole message.
