Before Sunset
I was slightly skeptical before I put this on, I didn't really embrace the idea of before sunrise having a sequel, I thought it's better to leave the things that were in the past forever like a fond memory to come back to, the ambiguous ending fit the film in my opinion.
but i fortunately stand corrected. this is the best thing I've ever watched, the way they fell back into their casual and animated yet oddly realistic, funny, and even awkward conversations at times. the entire thing is just so perfect, and I'm starting to think I love ambiguous endings, which I don't think I did before.
THE PARALLELS CHAT THE PARALLELS! I went crazy when Celine reached out to adjust Jesse's hair, just like he did to her in before sunrise. except here it was sad longing for someone you can't have, someone who you have one of the strongest connections in your life with, but someone unreachable to you nonetheless. in before sunrise they were flirty, friendly, shy and carefree. here they are burdened by the reality of aging and adult life and responsibility, they hold each other up and support each other's struggles for the brief time they have together. and ironically their main struggles stem from each other, and from what could have been, which they will never end up finding out.
