Before Sunset
This is why I love movies! Another film that made me cry like a maniac, and it’s only two people talking. Maybe it’s because I’m on my period and I’m a bit emotional, but mostly because this film is so beautiful, the characters and dialogue are so real, the dreamy glow of every highlight in the picture, you can really feel the underlying nostalgia through the screen right into your heart that feels all the emotions of these two humans, a life that could have been, but never will, a moment in their lives that they thought would never happen and that they hope will never end. Sometimes I feel the way this film has made me feel, hopelessly thinking about my past and about my future whiles beating myself up for not living in the moment. That every decision I have and will make can change my life drastically (especially now when I’m in my last year of high school and have no idea what will become of my life). This feeling is kind of like knowing time is slipping away and you can’t get up from bed to go and catch it, and sometimes you try, but you can’t keep up, so you just lay down again grieving the present moment. I don’t know if that makes any sense whatsoever, but this film has me feeling all kinds of emotions and that’s how it should be with great pieces of cinema in my opinion.
