Ahsoka
Season 1
Episode 1:
Understanding this show without having seen Rebels is nearly impossible. Even if the animation style wasn't so off-putting, expecting viewers to watch an entire separate animated series for context is a pretty big ask.
I liked Sabine’s intro. It was cool to see all the places from Rebels in live action.
Hera is way too reserved and her lack of a reaction to Ezra likely being alive did a huge disservice to Rebels.
Ezra looked 30 in his message.
The action is very flat. 6/10
Episode 2:
Marrok looks awesome, but the fight with him was slow.
The pacing stinks.
Baylan and Shin are holding this show up by a thread.* 6/10

Episode 3:
The flying scenes look really good.
It’s kinda wild how much more relatable Sabine is than Ashoka is in her own show. Almost nothing happened until the end of the ep. 5/10
Episode 4:
I kinda liked Sabine’s mini dark side arc while she thought Ahsoka was dead.
The world between worlds was something I never thought I’d see in live action. 7/10
Episode 5:
Everything Hayden Christianson does in this is great. The flashes of Vaders shadow are really cool.
Live action Clone Wars looks a little cheap, but it’s still really fucking awesome. Rex!!!
This ep is mostly entertaining, but it’s completely carried by fan service. 7/10
Episode 6:
The reunion with Ezra was pretty anticlimactic. Great casting though.
Thrawn’s intro was sick. He should have been in the show from the beginning, meeting the main villain with only 2 eps left just doesn’t work.
Baylen’s “I miss…the idea of it” speech was fantastic. 6/10
Episode 7:
General Xiong sucks space dick, like why would a single person respect or take his opinions serious enough for him to even get that kinda position of power, It just doesn’t make any since when you look at the people around him that had to approve of his place on the council.
I would’ve loved to see Ezra’s reaction to everything changing since he was gone instead of him just saying he’s shocked and then recapping everything that he was told off screen. 5/10
Episode 8:
Ezra walking out of the ship randomly wearing a stormtrooper helmet was very stupid. Hera having such a cold reaction to his return was a letdown.
Sabine using the force was a huge cop out.
It’s nice to hear Huyang talk about Kanen.
I still don’t know what to think about the night troopers, Enoch is cool though.
The Mortis stuff is one of the only reason I’m interesting in season 2.
These Disney Plus lightsabers look like toys. They need to use those metal rods again with cgi put on them after like the prequels did. Lightsabers feel way too heavy and the blade itself looks cheap as fuck.
Rosario Dawson is awesome casting but it seems like she’s directed to have no energy. Halfway through the season she laughs and shows some real emotion for the first time and it felt like a huge deal to see any sort of expression from her. I get that Ahsoka has been through a lot, but she’s literally just a blank slate now. I don’t feel the trauma enough, it feels more like nothingness.
I don’t hate the story but the dialogue is extremely generic throughout this whole show.
The action was shockingly lazy. I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if it was made with more energy, pretty much every fight feels flat. Also, I really miss Ahsokas original more acrobatic fighting style. It’s jarring to see the character known for her speed have the slowest lightsaber fights of the franchise.
The Clone wars/Rebels stuff is the only thing keeping me interested, which really sucks cause If anyone asked me 5 years ago who my favorite Star Wars character was I’d probably say Ahsoka, but after such a boring show she’s probably not even in my top 5 anymore.
I still love Dave Filoni, and believe this show still has a lot of potential, but it needs to get a lot better in season 2. 5/10
